in audit.rules add
-a exit,never -F path=/opt/splunkforwarder/bin/splunkd -k splunk_exclude
and auditd should no longer log every splunk action as root.
It’s been an adventure the last few months. As I stole a few minutes here and a few there, I eventually had built a vps server and migrated to it. It’s serving this blog to you right now and it’s handling my email. It’s was a fun little project. Being a sys admin most of it is stuff I do regularly for work. But in such a broad field there are always new things to learn that I haven’t had to do for work before.
Some months ago SmugMug rolled out their new pricing management tool It was by all measures a giant improvement, One’s ability to create schemes and mange them is much nicer and easier. I wanted a service that could host and display my photography in a highly customizable way yet, quick and easy to get up and run. A service to act as a backup, allow me to sell my work and perhaps let the hobby pay for itself.
